Time for a change at Happy Planet with my new ‘Seaside’ window display now fully installed. The felted seaside creatures are bringing lots of smiles and comments, with fish, prawns and octopi at the forefront. There is also a mother and baby seal, which you can either buy for a gift or, you can come and take a beginners needle felting workshop and make your own. This class has been very popular and we will be adding further dates. We have some lovely small water colours by Ann Nicholson, all studies of local lighthouses, as well as a series of maritime abstracts, which are also in water colour.
I can also welcome Jane Jennings, who works in ceramics and wood. The ceramics are crisp and delicately glazed, with all wooden elements having the added credentials of utilising recycled wood. The sail boats seem to be especially popular, with wooden hulls and ceramic sails,I think they could be a a lovely gift if you want something that is made locally and well.
I can now also welcome Keith and Jo Nichol of ‘Turn it Up’, both wood tuners and workers. I’ve known them both for quite a while now and am delighted that they have joined Happy Planet and we can share their lovely work with you.
The gallery now has a comprehensive range of beautiful handmade gits and carefully selected Fair Trade items, none of which you will find available locally. We welcome anyone to browse, as I only want you to buy what your love, my job as resident artist is not to sell but to inform if you wish. why not pop along for a unique shopping experience in #OurWhitleyBay, I will even put the kettle on and offer you a cup of #communitea (or coffee)
