A full house at The Mission last night for a fun filled evening of poetic fireworks and other spiritual goings on.
The evening opened with an ancient Chinese poem bu Cheng-Kung Sui entitled ‘Inviting Guests’ which summed up how I felt the evening should go ………..
I sent out invitations
To summon guests,
I collected together
All my friends,
And simple feasting:
Discussion of philosophy,
Investigation of subtleties.
And minds at one.
By discharge of emotion!
My vision and invitation were accepted and the evening duly came alive with friends old and new, feasting on Chicken broth and all manner of philosophical conversation and lovely poems. We welcomed several new ‘friends’ who we hope will return, one of whom, Ken Creen, performed ‘The green eye of the little yellow god’ by J Milton Hayes, as well as another of his own about a boy named Susan. Meanwhile Elizabeth shared a lovely image of her gran and Alan wrote a verse while feasting befoe giving us the world premiere of ‘Death in the Garden’.
The complete lists of poems is as follows:
Michael McCourie – Fireworks for love
Alan Madison – Death in the Garden
Paul McCartney – Full moon eve
Elizabeth Burn – Nanna
