Welcome back June – Poetry with Friends

Share with:

After a little rest for Easter Poetry with friends re-grouped today at Whitley Bay and it was lovely to have June back with us after having had to miss our meetings for a while. As usual we shared a rather good selection of poetry, with new member Jean making her first foray into reading to us all, which she managed with aplomb via Hugo Williams. Gail shared her news of the readiness of her book, which has been on the cards for a while but now is definite. What was strange was no mention of the forthcoming election, perhaps we needed a rest from it.

The poems we shared this week were:

Gail Curry – Sky Poem

Peter Mortimer – Read a book every day

TS Eliot – The rum tum tugger

Clive James – Too much light

Hugo Williams – Her news

Ella Wheeler Wilcox – Solitude

Thomas Hardy – Where the picnic was

John Hegley – Peter the parrot

John Constantine – Don’t jump off the roof dad

Emily Dickinson – Farewell

John Mills – Climbing is for cissies

Felix Dennis – April 15th 2007
