Just spent a fantastic afternoon at Happy Planet Creative Arts Winter Workshops at Boo Boo & Ted, Whitley Road in Whitley Bay. My first introduction to the art of Needle Felting with Gail Curry. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it, I was made to feel very welcome, really relaxed atmosphere, excellent tuition and I would highly recommend anyone who is thinking about doing Felting, be it Needle or Wet Felting to get themselves enrolled with Gail, she is a Natural. Thanks Gail, I've found my niche, and I will be watching for news of the next Course..Keep in Touch. Pauline Horsefield.

I have been meaning to call in for ages and when I finally made it I was like a kid in a sweet shop ooohing and ahhing over all the beautiful things. I went in for a birthday present for a friend and came away with something for her and myself. It has also given me loads of ideas for presents for others so I will definitely be back soon. I was amazed at the quality and price of things and it is lovely to be able to buy something that is handmade locally.

I normally love to browse in Creative Planet, Gail has the shop beautiful, the items for sale are a mixture of beautiful locally made and fair trade arts and crafts and everything is well displayed. Due to the recent pandemic, I decided to shop online. The website really reflects the shop - beautiful items all well displayed. I placed my order on the Friday and received it really promptly on the Monday. I’m really happy with the items, the cards are perfect for my friends upcoming birthdays. My little girl will love the puppet and I treat myself to some lovely lavender soap too which smells divine. Thank you Gail ☺️

I love visiting Happy Planet Creative Arts and it is my 'go to' place for gifts that are unique, and with the added bonus that they are locally made. I never come out empty handed as I can never resist treating myself as well as whoever I went in to buy a gift for! Congratulations Gail on providing a welcoming space and offering something that is different.

I was so happy to find this lovely space and the very talent Gail again!
I've done a beginning felting workshop last year which I really enjoyed. The... read more shop has so many different types of nice art that you're spoil for choices. After a long bike ride last Sunday, I walked into the shop and straight away I was offered a cup of tea and an amazing carrot cake (the cake was for the shop birthday!) What a great and personnel customer service experience! I've left the shop with a big smile on my face as I've got some great tips on my next felting project, some quality felting and I've booked myself on the next workshop which I can't wait!

Silver clay jewellery workshop with Emine Thompson.
This was the first workshop I’d done at Happy Planet and I loved it.
Gail’s shop is full of lovely handmade... read more crafts so there’s lots of interesting and beautiful things to look at, and all of them made from recycled and environmentally friendly materials.
Gail is very friendly and welcoming and Emine is an inspirational teacher who
patiently explained the process of preparing and sculpting our pieces.
Being quite impatient by nature, I loved the fact that the whole process took only a few hours to complete so I was able to see the final result. I was amazed that a small blob of clay could be transformed into a shiny metal object in such a short space of time. There was a magical moment when the pale grey pieces were brushed to reveal a lovely sparkly shine.
All materials were provided, including jump rings and earring hooks, with the option to buy more silver clay and extras such as silver chains at discounted prices.
I’m looking forward to doing some more workshops at Happy Planet.

I have always admired the Shibori technique for it's uniqueness and sometimes intricate detail. Emily Carney explained several ways to make designs and patterns with advice on the best fabric... read more to use and how long to leave your piece in the dye bath.
The workshop was lovely and relaxing in a setting that was comfortable and had all the facilities we needed to complete our sample pieces and final silk scarf. Everyone had lots to take home and we all enjoyed chatting while tying, folding and washing out our work.
For me it was lovely to spend an afternoon with fabric and dye and relax while having fun and meeting new creative people. i would certainly go on another course hosted by Happy Planet Creative Arts CIC.
